Manual Ontech Relay
Introduction
The Ontech GSM 9040 and Ontech GSM 9025 models can be reprogrammed so that they can be used as additional relays in a system with Ontech 9060 or Ontech 9065 as main units. These will then function as sub-units and be controlled by the Ontech 9060/9065 in the same way that the Ontech Relay 9015 works today.
Reprogram Ontech GSM 9040 or Ontech GSM 9025 to Ontech Relay
1. Download the software to your computer. You can find it here:
https://www.ontechcontrol.com/software-gora-om-ontech-9040-9025-till-ontech-relay/. If you
get a security warning in Windows, click “Information” and then “Run anyway”
2. Double-click the zip file and drag the programming file to the desired location.
3. Double-click the programming file and follow the instructions. The cable to be used is the cable supplied with the Ontech 9025/9040/9060/9065.
What makes the Ontech relay different from the 9015?
• The green GSM lamp lights up steadily when the device has voltage.
• Ontech Relay can alarm for power failure, which Ontech Relay 9015 does not
• The Ontech Relay does not turn off automatically when it is pulled out of the wall socket, but the button must be held down until both lights go out.
Software 9060/9065
In order to take advantage of the power failure function of the Ontech Relay, the main units Ontech 9060 and Ontech 9065 must have software at least version 64. Update here: https://www.ontechcontrol.com/software-ontech-9060/
Handling
Start the device
You start the device by simply plugging it into the wall socket. The device flashes red the number of times corresponding to its ID (2-8), then the lamp lights up for 1 second, then the lamp flashes quickly the number of times corresponding to the set radio channel (0-15).
The device then seeks contact with an Ontech GSM main unit. If it does not find any main unit, the red light flashes continuously. When it makes contact, the red light is either on or off.
In Ontech Control the device will appear as an Ontech 9015.
Identification number
You can connect up to seven wireless accessories with individual control and communication to the Ontech system. Each unit is given an ID number. ID2 is preset to Ontech Relay. If you want to change this, see below.
Radio channel
The Ontech GSM system short-range radio operates on the frequency 2.4 GHz. The system provides 16 radio channels. All the devices in the same Ontech system must be tuned to the same radio channel in order to communicate with each other. On delivery, all units are set to radio channel 0. If you want to change this, see below.
Alarm inputs
Ontech Realy 9015 has two wired alarm inputs that can be connected to different types of alarm sensors. These are set on delivery to alarm when closing function (Normally Open, N.O.) They can both or just one be changed to breaking function (Normally Closed, N.C.), see below.
Setting of ID, radio channel and alarm input position
If you want to change the ID, radio channel or alarm input mode (NC or NO), proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the device by pressing the button and then unplug the device from the wall outlet. When both lights are off, the device is switched off.
2. Connect the alarm sensors you intend to use to the alarm inputs. The alarms must be in the unarmed position, i.e. the normal position when they do not sound an alarm. If you intend to have no alarms or if both alarms are of the closing type (Normally Open), you can skip this step.
3. Hold down the button and connect the device to the wall outlet.
4. The red lamp lights up.
5. Hold the button down for about 3 seconds.
6. Release the button and the red light will turn off.
7. Press the number of times corresponding to the ID (2-8) you want to give the device.
8. Wait until the red light comes on for 1 second.
9. Press the number of times corresponding to the radio channel you want to program (0-15). At channel 0, you do not press at all.
10. Wait until the red light comes on for 1 second.
11. The device then connects to an Ontech GSM main unit and is ready to use.
Power failure alarm
Ontech Relay can alarm for power failure but has some limitations.
• Works only if the Ontech 9060/9065 main units have software version 64 or higher.
• If the wall socket Ontech Relay is in experiences a power failure, a power failure alarm will be indicated in Ontech Control after the time set for delay under general settings in Ontech Control. Emails are sent to all alarm recipients (and SMS if this function is used).
• It is not possible to identify which of the devices (Ontech 9060/9065 or Ontech Relay) sent the alarm. It will look like the main unit has alarmed.
• If the power is out for so long that the backup battery runs out, the power out message will disappear and the power back message will be sent. If the power is still out, however, the unit will be shown as not having contact with the main unit (symbol with extended contacts).
Repeater
Devices that have ID 2-5 act as repeaters. They relay radio signals from more distant units to the main unit. If building a system with many Ontech Relay 9015, then place the ones with low ID closest to the main unit and the ones with high ID furthest from the main unit. In this way, you extend the range of the system.
